English Teacher – Alternative Provision (Luton)
Location:
Luton, Bedfordshire
Contract:
Full-time, Permanent
Salary: MPS / UPS
Start Date:
April 2026
The Role
Tired of massive class sizes? Join our supportive Luton team as an English Teacher and work with small groups in a rewarding Alternative Provision setting. This is a role designed for teachers who want to focus on building relationships over navigating red tape.
We are seeking a resilient and passionate English Teacher to support young people who have faced barriers to success in mainstream education. This is a chance to move away from the "one-size-fits-all" model and deliver meaningful, creative English lessons to students who truly need a second chance.
What You’ll Be Doing
Small Group Teaching:
Delivering English (Functional Skills, GCSE, or bespoke literacy) to small cohorts, allowing for genuine 1:1 impact.
Trauma-Informed Practice:
Using a supportive approach to engage learners with SEMH needs or gaps in their education.
Creative Curriculum:
Planning lessons that are flexible and tailored to individual student interests and needs.
Collaborative Support:
Working alongside a close-knit team of pastoral and SEN specialists to create a calm, safe learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications:
QTS/QTLS or an experienced English specialist with a strong teaching background.
Mindset: A flexible, solution-focused approach and a belief that every student can succeed given the right environment.
Skills:
Strong de-escalation skills and the ability to build trust with "hard-to-reach" learners.
Local Focus: A commitment to improving outcomes for young people in the Luton area.
Why Join Our Luton Team?
Manageable Workload:
No more classes of 30+; focus on quality over quantity.
Supportive Culture: A team that genuinely cares for staff wellbeing and professional growth.
Visible Impact:
See the immediate difference you make in a student’s confidence and communication skills.
Specialized CPD:
Ongoing training in Alternative Provision and inclusive practice.
