Keep Education is currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Luton and Harpenden.

This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or experienced school staff looking for flexible work in a professional school environment.

Role Description

As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee classes when teachers are absent, ensuring pupils remain engaged, on task, and safe. You will work with pre-prepared lesson materials and provide support to teaching staff while maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise classes according to the school’s lesson plans

• Maintain positive behaviour and follow school policies

• Support pupils with learning as directed

• Assist teaching staff with administrative tasks where required

• Ensure the welfare and safety of all pupils

• Communicate effectively with school staff and your Keep Education consultant

Educational Requirements

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths

• A-Level qualifications or equivalent preferred

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Experience

• Previous experience working in a school or with children

• Experience managing groups of pupils effectively

• Familiarity with classroom routines and behaviour management

Skills

• Strong classroom management and organisational skills

• Good communication and interpersonal skills

• Reliability and flexibility

• Ability to follow lesson plans and adapt to different school environments

• Professionalism and a positive attitude
