You’ll be teaching whole-class instrumental and vocal lessons, helping pupils develop their musical skills, confidence, and creativity. Your work will include using effective assessment for learning strategies, keeping accurate records, and adapting your teaching to meet the needs of all learners. Alongside classroom teaching, you’ll have opportunities to perform, lead singing, run choirs, and contribute to assemblies and out-of-school activities.

About YouYou’re an enthusiastic and skilled music educator with demonstrable experience of teaching participatory music in a range of styles. You’re confident delivering National Curriculum music, particularly at KS2, and you have experience teaching KS1 pupils as well. You understand how to use assessment for learning effectively and enjoy helping children recognise their progress and achievements.
You’re comfortable teaching a variety of instruments in a whole-class setting, including ukulele, percussion, recorder, and music technology, and you may also bring additional instrumental skills. You’re an accomplished performer, ideally at post–Grade 8 level, and you’re confident teaching singing, leading choirs, and delivering singing assemblies.
Strong communication skills are essential, as you’ll be working closely with pupils, parents, and school staff. You’re organised, able to manage your time well, and committed to meeting the individual needs of every learner. You have a good understanding of classroom instrumental techniques, repertoire, and music teaching methodologies, along with secure knowledge of statutory requirements for the National Curriculum for Music.
