Position: Buyer (Construction)

Overview

Newstaff Employment Services has an opening for a Buyer to join our client’s successful construction company.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced procurement professional looking to work in a dynamic environment where you will play a key role in sourcing materials and services necessary for successful project delivery.

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring that the materials and equipment needed for construction projects are acquired efficiently and cost-effectively.

Your contributions will be crucial in maintaining project timelines and budgets while ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the purchasing process for construction materials, tools, and services.
  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers; negotiate terms and pricing to secure optimal contracts.
  • Monitor market trends and supplier performance to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Collaborate with project managers to determine material needs and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier information.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of materials to project sites to maintain schedules.
  • Conduct regular reviews of procurement policies and practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Resolve any procurement-related issues or discrepancies.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Procurement Specialist in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is ideal.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Understanding of construction materials, pricing, and procurement processes.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
