Example of Duties
Under general supervision, provides interpreter services in various office and home settings for the agency’s Hispanic population and/or Creole ethnic groups that may speak various languages. This position serves as translator to agency staff during client and prospective client interviews and inquiries. This position is responsible for assuring that clients understand procedures and instructions given by staff. This position will also assist with translating during telephone conversations, court appearances, and field visits between staff and clients.
This position is also responsible for translating written correspondence upon request. This position reports to an Administrative Assistant II.
- High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in translating, preferably in a health care or human services setting, demonstrating fluency in English and Spanish, and preferably in Creole, is necessary to successfully perform the assigned job duties.
- Valid North Carolina driver’s license required upon hire and duration of employment. Out of state driver’s license will be accepted only if the individual is a permanent resident of that state.
- Must take and successfully pass a pre-employment drug test, Motor Vehicle Records driver license check, as well as submit to random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing. A criminal background check must be completed by the County of Robeson for potential applicants.
