Cost Accountant

Description

Robert Half is recruiting for a talented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our manufacturing client's team. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate cost tracking and supporting financial decision-making processes. The ideal candidate will excel at identifying cost-saving opportunities, maintaining precise records, and collaborating across departments to improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Analyze and evaluate manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labor, and overhead, to ensure accurate cost allocation.

- Prepare and reconcile detailed cost reports and inventory valuations to maintain financial accuracy.

- Develop and refine cost accounting systems and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.

- Conduct variance analyses between actual and standard costs, investigating and explaining any discrepancies.

- Collaborate with teams in production, engineering, and supply chain to implement cost control strategies.

- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial close processes.

- Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits related to cost accounting.

- Identify opportunities for cost reductions and recommend process improvements based on data analysis.

- Maintain and update bills of materials and standard costs within the system to ensure accuracy.

- Support and validate costing processes to align with organizational standards.

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.

- Minimum of 3 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

- Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.

- Certification in accounting or finance (e.g., CPA, CMA) is highly desirable.

- Prior experience with standard cost accounting methods and cost analysis techniques.
