PositionPlumber
Performs installation, repair, assembly, and maintenance of plant plumbing as well as installation of compressed air, chemical, industrial waste fluids, steam systems, and accessory installations. This is a full-time job position working 40 hours a week (4/10s). There is no per diem and no relocation funding.
Responsibilities- Must have a South Carolina state Plumber License
- Conduct corrective maintenance to resolve issues and perform preventive maintenance inspections
- Install and repair plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners
- Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and clearing clogged drains
- Study building plans and working drawings to determine work required and sequence of installations
- Locate and mark positions of pipes and pipe connections and passage holes using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob
- Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipes using hand tools and power tools
- Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine
- Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes made of metals (iron, steel, brass, lead) and nonmetals (glass, vitrified clay, plastic) using hand and power tools
- Join pipes by screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulking joints
- Fill pipe systems with water or air to read pressure gauges and check for leaks
- Read blueprints to determine size, position, and material requirements
- Install pipe in walls, ceilings, and floors
- All work performed with appropriate personal protective equipment, including rain gear, chemical protective clothing, supplied air and air-purifying respirators, safety harnesses, sandblast hoods, fire resistant coveralls, hard hat, ear protection, and safety glasses
- Maintain mobility and reach, work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing; use hands to handle objects and operate controls; work at heights and balance for extended periods
- Assist with other facility maintenance as required
Education: no minimum education requirements.
Experience: 2-4 years of experience in an industrial setting, preferred.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check as a condition of employment.
