Occasional after-hours work may be required based on MHEC needs.
Compensation: $43,920 - $45,355 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
Position OverviewBurke is seeking a Crisis Discharge Specialist to join the multidisciplinary treatment team at the Mental Health Emergency Center (MHEC). This role provides rehabilitative, discharge planning, and case management services to individuals receiving care in the Extended Observation and/or Crisis Residential Units.
The Crisis Discharge Specialist works collaboratively with clinical and program staff to stabilize clients during crisis, strengthen coping skills, prevent relapse, and support successful linkage to ongoing outpatient and community-based services. This position plays a key role in treatment planning, discharge coordination, and safety monitoring.
Key Responsibilities- Work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team to support individuals in crisis services.
- Provide individual and group rehabilitative services in accordance with treatment plans.
- Assist clients in developing coping skills to manage crises and reduce relapse.
- Participate in collaborative treatment planning and discharge planning.
- Support linkage to outpatient services, community programs, and Burke services.
- Provide safety monitoring for designated clients.
- Assist with case management activities and transportation to Burke facilities or community resources as needed.
- Cross-train to provide group facilitation and one-on-one skills training.
- Complete emergency assessments as assigned.
- Assist with phone coverage as needed.
- Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a Human Services discipline that meets QMHP requirements (e.g., social work, psychology, counseling, rehabilitation, sociology, nursing, or related field).
- Preferred: Two (2) years of full-time direct care experience working with adults in a behavioral health or mental health setting.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Driving record that meets Burke's insurance requirements.
- Ability to complete required employee training, including:
- Satori Alternatives to Managing Aggressive Behavior (SAMA)
- CPR and First Aid
- Defensive Driving
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Prolonged standing and walking.
- Ability to drive a vehicle.
- Hand and finger dexterity for documentation and routine tasks.
