Position Overview

Burke is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Support Staff member to support the Developmental Disabilities Authority in Lufkin, TX. This role provides essential administrative and clerical support while maintaining frequent interaction with both the public and Burke staff.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in healthcare administration, nonprofit operations, social services, or human resources to gain hands‑on administrative experience in a mission-driven organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track expiration dates and ensure documentation remains current
  • Assist Service Directors with enrollment activities
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records
  • Run and track billing suspense reports
  • Answer multi-line phone system
  • Distribute and route mail
  • Process records requests
  • Scan documents into electronic charts
  • Process invoices
  • Order office supplies
  • Perform other miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned

The ideal candidate must maintain confidentiality in accordance with agency policies and procedures and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions with consumers and staff.

Required Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensure: Valid Texas driver's license
  • Driving record must be insurable under Burke's insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
  • One (1) year of clerical or administrative experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Professional demeanor and effective interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in basic office technology and data entry
Physical Requirements
  • Sight, hearing, and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods
