Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to support the school’s mission by helping to develop well-rounded young men and women who demonstrate Christ-like humility and selflessness coupled with confidence and poise on the field of play.
Summary:
The coach performs all activities necessary to carry out the aims and objectives of the sport as outlined by the Athletic Director. This includes emphasizing and encouraging a balanced approach to faith, family, academics, and sports; providing training and coaching to enable students to perform with excellence and self-discipline for future Kingdom service; and supporting an athletic culture that demands honor and respect while representing the cause of Christ well in all its activities.
The coach receives direction from the Athletic Director. The Coach must exercise judgment in keeping with the school’s philosophy of education, beliefs and values, and with the approved approach to discipline. The Coach exercises functional supervision over student athletes, team managers, and trainers.
Work ScheduleThis is a part-time, seasonal position. The exact daily work schedule is driven by practice times and team events. Travel to athletic events off campus is required.

- Measure knowledge against Scripture
- Demonstrate commitment to church life and its core traditions
- Support the school’s Christian mission and form students by modeling Christian living on and off the field
- Fulfill duties as a minister and steward of the Christian faith
- Athletic Leadership
- Assist the Athletic Director in carrying out program responsibilities
- Design a program that challenges students and develops godly characteristics
- Attend staff meetings and complete assignments promptly
- Assess players’ skills and assign teams accordingly
- Prepare for practices, meetings, and contests
- Plan activities, practices, games, and transportation
- Maintain records and complete required paperwork timely
- Understand and apply KPA policies and regulations
- Contribute to enforcing school rules and student discipline
- Comply with league rules and regulations
- Athletic Coaching
- Articulate and maintain standards of student behavior to foster a constructive climate
- Implement and uphold the KPA Athletics Handbook with accountability
- Develop regular practice schedules for individual and team development
- Support a team environment driven by honor and respect
- Instruct players on rules, equipment, and techniques
- Observe players to identify needs for improvement
- Determine game strategy based on team capabilities
- Provide feedback and Christian discipleship to players individually or in groups
- Supervise students in locker rooms to promote respectful behavior
- Instill respect for equipment and facilities
- Comply with league rules and regulations
- Instruct team members on rule changes and fundamentals
- Ensure medical and safety requirements are followed
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities
- Managing Equipment and Facilities
- Respect time allotted for practice as determined by the Athletic Director
- Maintain a safe environment and facilities for student athletes
- Assist with inventory, issuance and collection of equipment and uniforms
- Safeguard equipment maintenance and protection
- Secure buildings, equipment, and rooms after practice and games
- Communication
- Engage parents appropriately, keeping them informed and involved
- Respect the administrative chain-of-command and refer concerns through proper channels
- Professionalism
- Demonstrate commitment and loyalty to KPA and its mission
- Present a reliable demeanor to students
- Accept constructive feedback for growth

- Know safety procedures including first aid and CPR
