Position OverviewA Security Guard job is available with the City of Fort Worth Municipal Court Marshal’s Division. Security Guards perform safety and security duties, conduct routine inspections, and provide a variety of general security functions at assigned City facilities. This position will assist the Fort Worth Deputy Marshals as needed. The position requires excellent observational skills, the ability to stay alert and remain calm in stressful situations, and a commitment to upholding safety protocols.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a security role and possess strong communication skills.
- High school diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training in security, law enforcement, or a related field
- Two (2) years of increasingly responsible security or law enforcement experience
- Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility
- First Aid and AED certification
- Level II Noncommissioned Security Officers License
- High-rise security experience
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises
- Control access points, verify the identity of individuals entering the premises, and ensure they have proper authorization
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergencies such as fire alarms, medical incidents, and security breaches
- Coordinate with emergency services and guide them to the scene if necessary
- Answer inquiries and provide directions or information as needed
- Ensure that all security equipment, such as locks, alarms, and gates are in proper working condition
- Conduct regular checks to ensure the physical security of doors, windows, and access points
- Diffuse conflicts and de-escalate potentially volatile situations using effective communication and conflict resolution skills
- Inspect and report on any potential safety hazards or security vulnerabilities, such as broken windows or malfunctioning security systems
- Other duties as assigned
Positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, repetitive motions, climbing, and balancing.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility. Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:
Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last ten years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last ten years, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.
Medium Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects.
