Level 3 Security Officer – Armed School Campus Officer
We are seeking Professional Level 3 Commissioned Officers for a School Resource Officer (SRO) position. This is an armed role;
Level 2 license holders will not be considered.
This position is at a school and the hours align with the school schedule. If you are not available weekdays during school hours, please do not apply.
Minimum Qualifications- Professional status
- Current Level III license issued from TX DPS PSB with pocket guard card
- Valid driver's license
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation and working phone
- Ability to safely handle and operate a firearm
- Capacity to handle a physical workload
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with good work ethics
- Must pass a physical fitness assessment
- Must pass a background check
- Age 21 or older
- U.S. citizen
- No felony convictions within the last 10 years
- No Class A misdemeanor convictions within the last 5 years
- No Class B misdemeanor convictions within the last 2 years
- No family violence convictions
- No current deferred adjudication for any felony, Class A or Class B misdemeanor, or open cases
Must have OWN DUTY GEAR / FIREARM (service‑type weapons; calibers include 9 mm, .40, .45 ACP, etc.)
Additional Requirements- Ongoing ownership/maintenance of Level 3 retention holster, duty belt, OD green tactical pants
- Ability to walk/stand and patrol for duration of shift
- Clean‑cut appearance and good physical health
- Proficient grammar skills (spoken and written)
- Prior or current military/law‑enforcement experience
- Exceptional duty weapon manipulation and accuracy
- Capability to work indoors and outdoors in inclement weather; ability to walk, run, climb, crawl, sit, and stand for extended periods; perform activities of an emergency first responder
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem‑solving skills; effective verbal and written communication with school staff, students, families, and law enforcement; responsible for managing witnesses and incident responses; sound judgment
- Ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders
- Patrol school premises during school hours
- Respond to incidents, including safety and security emergencies
- Maintain situational awareness and report incidents to appropriate authorities
- Support school staff in emergency situations and first‑response duties
- Communicate with students, staff, families, and law enforcement as needed
- Perform duties in accordance with TX DPS policies and applicable laws
