The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state. Learn About Our State Supported Living Centers.

This position is available for Morning, Evening and Night shifts on multiple homes.

This position may be eligible to earn additional pay for work performed on evenings, nights and/or weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Help people with intellectual disabilities achieve their goals through routine and emergency care, treatment, and training.
  • Perform grooming, bathing, feeding, lifting and positioning, assist with medication administration.
  • Observe and report individual’s conditions and behaviors, provide meaningful interactions.
  • Participate in individualized training and/or active treatment programs.
  • Document information on the person’s daily schedule, responses to activities, training, and incidents.
  • Support decision making under guidance of professional staff.
  • Provide training/mentorship to new DSPs.
  • Volunteer or serve as shift/team lead or “Charge.”
  • Ensure care, treatment, training, and support activities are completed, supervise other staff, and maintain documentation.
  • Drive a state-owned vehicle when required.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs)
  • Attend work on a regular basis, handle specific shift schedules or rotating schedules, extended shift and/or overtime.
  • Implement habilitation and rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs tailored to individual goals.
  • Teach life skills such as feeding, dressing, and personal hygiene.
  • Participate in the development of the individual’s treatment plan.
  • Observe individuals for signs of disease, injury, medication reactions, or other conditions requiring medical intervention and document observations.
  • Report significant changes in physical condition or behavior and record information appropriately.
  • Assist in transporting individuals to scheduled activities and emergency situations.
  • Administer first aid and, under supervision, attend to healthcare needs.
  • Evacuate individuals during fires, natural disasters, or drills.
  • Prevent or manage aggressive behavior and administer CPR in emergencies.
  • Perform direct care and support services.
  • Provide training/mentorship to new DSPs.
  • Act as a shift/team lead/“Charge” when designated, ensuring efficient operation, safe environment, and interdisciplinary teamwork.
