Overview

Position:
Phlebotomist

Position

Description:

Draws blood from patients in correctional hospital facility for analysis or other medical purposes.

Responsibilities
  • Possess skills and knowledge in obtaining blood from venous and capillary sites
  • Uses correct procedures to accurately identify patients and specimen
  • Completes paperwork and maintains records as needed
  • Prepare biological specimens for analysis
  • Assists in maintaining proper level of supplies
  • Be well organized and able to synchronize duties with other personnel
  • Report incidents that are unusual or deficient to immediate supervisor
  • Adheres to infection control standards
  • Maintains patient and staff confidentiality
Occasional Duties
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
  • Required Qualifications:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Navy Enlisted Classification Code: HM
  • Army Military Occupational Specialty Code: 68W, 68K
  • Air Force Specialty Code: 4T0 X1
