Busy credit union is looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer. This position is remote.
Key Responsibilities- Assist members and realtors by conducting face-to-face and phone interviews for mortgage applications.
- Provide technical expertise on mortgage products and guidelines.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately; order appraisals, surveys, insurance, and other necessary items.
- Review and submit loan files, including recommendations for manual underwriting.
- Issue Adverse Action Notices in accordance with federal regulations.
- Maintain ongoing communication with members, realtors, title companies, and other parties throughout the loan process.
- Coordinate closing schedules and ensure timely follow‑up.
- Participate in escrow analysis and maintain basic knowledge of mortgage loan servicing.
- Perform notary services as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized loan pipeline.
- Review and submit online applications for approval.
- Work with investors to offer niche and government‑backed loan products.
- Attend training, seminars, and workshops to stay current on industry changes.
- Support business development efforts, including home‑buying seminars and realtor outreach.
- Assist in training branch MSSOs quarterly.
- Cross‑sell additional credit union products and services.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and applicable regulations, including BSA, AML, CFT, MIP, and OFAC requirements.
- Perform other duties as needed to support daily operations.
- High school diploma required; additional postsecondary technical coursework preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of related experience.
- Ability to maintain 80 closed loans per year or $12M in loan volume over a 12‑month period.
- Must meet all state and national licensing requirements, including education and background checks.
- Texas & New Mexico Real Estate Law, Title Insurance Law
- Regulations C, Z, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Down Payment Assistance Programs
- Mortgage loan policies, documentation, contracts, and interest rates
- Conventional and government underwriting guidelines
- Loan origination software
- Required to meet all State and National licensing minimum standards; must meet required minimal education requirements for initial licensing and continued annual education; must pass national criminal history background check.
Salary is 55K to 85K depending on experience. Eligible to get bonuses per the monthly outcomes of the department and their goal for that month.
