The Accounting Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting including profit and loss, tax liability, record of assets, liabilities, or any other financial activities within the company. This position focuses on analyzing financial information, managing financial reporting processes, and maintaining compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Job Duties
- Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses and provide strategic financial advice to leadership.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs and presenting findings to senior management.
- Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, including leveraging current computer technology to improve efficiency.
- Review, approve, and submit sales tax reports monthly, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead the preparation of cash flow projections and present findings to senior leadership.
- Manage and coordinate financial audits, sales tax audits, bank examinations, and other audits as required.
- Own and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring deadlines are met and results are accurately reported.
- Review accounts for discrepancies, reconcile differences monthly, and approve adjusting journal entries.
- Drive continuous improvement of accounting processes and procedures, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA or CMA designation strongly preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite applications; advanced proficiency in Excel required.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Net Suite, or similar ERP systems) preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Complex Problem Solving - Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Analytical Skills - Strong ability to analyze financial statements and other data to identify trends, improve efficiencies, and support strategic decision-making.
- Communication Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting, explaining financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders, and collaborating across departments.
- Time Management - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
