We keep the cloud running, supporting data centers and all servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment to ensure continual access to customer innovations. As our Data Center Construction Manager (CM), you will be part of a diverse, upbeat, and creative team solving fascinating problems constructing Amazon Data Centers. Our data centers are industry-leading examples of energy-efficient and cost-effective designs.

Responsibilities
  • Own project scope, quality, schedule, and budget for construction of new builds or general capital projects.
  • Own construction project management and oversight of construction-related activities.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning teams to build Data Centers that directly support our customers.
  • Lead in your specific discipline (construction management, building services, architectural, electrical or mechanical engineering).
  • Represent Amazon’s owner’s representative on construction sites and interact with construction trades.
  • Serve as Amazon’s construction representative on multiple data center sites from kickoff to hand-off to operations.
  • Interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, punch-list, and closeout phases.
  • Create construction project scope and request for proposals; conduct bid evaluations with detail and accuracy.
  • Manage cost, schedule, and quality while overseeing construction contractors and vendors.
  • Manage project documents, submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoices, quality, scope, and schedule.
  • Drive teams to troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis on equipment failures.
  • Support commissioning and integrated system testing and oversight.
  • Support operations of installed facilities, including review of procedures, best practices, and maintenance initiatives.
  • Support capital request creation and report construction progress and financials.
  • Record and report key construction metrics and contribute to initiatives for efficiency and resiliency.
  • Provide constructability reviews for electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.

Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in construction management or construction program management of large, complex projects involving large-scale MEP systems.
  • Experience in construction of data center delivery, mission-critical facilities, or equivalent industrial/building projects.
  • Experience constructing electrical engineering systems including large-scale power distribution and cooling systems.
  • Experience in project controls (cost and/or schedule) and formulating construction programs for infrastructure and mission-critical projects on-site and in preconstruction environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent engineering field with 7+ years of experience, or 12+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience delivering environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects with expertise in permitting and environmental evaluations.
  • Experience in Project Controls Standards, including Estimating, Cost Management, Schedule Management, Change Management, Risk Management, WBS/CBS/SBS, Cash-Flow, and Benchmarking.
  • Experience in environmental compliance and permitting, waste management, and related regulatory assessments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field.
