The Department of Journalism & Creative Media Industries within the College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University seeks a creative professional and teacher with experience in digital video production for a full-time, 9‑month Lecturer position.
As a Lecturer in the Department of Journalism & Creative Media Industries, you will be expected to teach courses in digital video/cinema/film production. Additional expectations include teaching in other areas of digital media production based on the successful candidate's experience, which may include some combination of:
- audio
- web design
- digital photography
- AI workflows
- VR/AR
- mixed reality
- virtual production
- digital world‑building for gaming
- interactive media
- motion graphics
- VFX
- and/or similar related practices
At Texas Tech University, the Lecturer title designates a full-time, non‑tenure‑acquiring role with primary duties in teaching organized classes and/or instructional labs. In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate level.
The position’s overall duties are allocated between teaching (80%) and service (20%) to the department, college, or university. This equates to a standard teaching load of four organized courses per semester, with potential opportunities to teach additional courses during summer or intersession semesters for additional compensation. Teaching assignments may include both face‑to‑face and online courses. The Lecturer will also be expected to mentor undergraduate students within the Department.
The anticipated contract start date is September 1, 2026, with faculty on duty in mid‑August 2026.
