Primary PurposeThe purpose | of an Instructional Specialist is to improve teaching and learning by transforming the culture in which:
- teaching is transparent and is the focus among professionals.
- planning for instruction is thorough, collaborative, and pedagogically sound.
- conversations about improving instruction are constant, data-driven, and purposeful.
Instructional Specialists will support campus instructional staff in lesson internalization and differentiation, instructional best practices, understanding of content, data analysis, and overall improvement in teaching and learning based on TEKS.
Policy, Reports, and LawComply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
Qualifications- Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree;
Master’s Degree preferred - Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment;
Ability to organize, coordinate, and facilitate instruction;
Ability to interpret data;
Ability to provide ongoing, targeted professional development;
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills - Experience:
- Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district.
- Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility.
- Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning.
- Share in the development and implementation of district success plans.
- Actively participate in ongoing development to improve work quality and district contribution.
- Model integrity, work ethic, and professionalism as a suitable example for LISD students.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
