Job Title: Behavior Specialist, Specialist Behavioral
Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Director Student Behavior Support
Pay Grade: Teacher, 10.5 months

Primary PurposeThe role of the behavior specialist is to assist campuses in facilitating students’ behavior management by providing additional support to those students who exhibit chronic behavior problems in the classroom or campus setting.
QualificationsEducation/Certification: Bachelor’s degree
Valid Texas teacher certificate
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation
Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Ability to interpret data
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience: Five years teaching experience with demonstrated success working with students with challenging behavior
Major Responsibilities And Duties Instructional and Program Management- Observe and consult with campus staff and administrators on an ongoing and proactive basis.
- Assist campus staff with Functional Behavioral Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Provide facilitation between school and parents.
- Provide teachers with research based behavioral and academic approaches/instructional strategies.
- Provide conflict resolution.
- Plan and provide job-embedded staff development for teachers and staff in the designated subject area.
- Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in assigned area.
- Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers and administrators to facilitate improvement and innovation.
- Demonstrate teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
- Assist in communicating information to parent and community members about school programs.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Demonstrate ability to train, demonstrate and implement current research-based strategies in area assigned.
- Compile and maintain all required reports, records, and other documents as determined necessary.

Occasional prolonged or irregular hours
Physical capacity to administer nonviolent physical crisis intervention prevention during crisis situations with students
Physical capacity to provide training in and implement state mandated crisis intervention programs, such as Nonviolent Crisis Intervention
