Position Description

The Department of Family Medicine provides high quality health care and educational experiences. Working as a team of healthcare providers and educators, we advance a unique model of patient care characterized by:

Major/Essential Functions

Assesses patients by obtaining and reviewing health histories, assessing presenting illness and performing an appropriate physical examination;

Orders laboratory, diagnostic and screening tests;

Develops and implements treatment plans including medications;

Educates patients on wellness, illness prevention and disease management;

Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatments;

Coordinates care with subspecialists;

Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records;

Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members;

Participates in quality improvement, continuing education and patient care programs established by the department, clinic and/or hospital; and

Participates in the training and education of residents and medical students.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with EMR

Required Qualifications

MD, DO or MBBS;
Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME Family Medicine Residency;
Board certified, board eligible, or in the process of completing training to become board eligible in Family Medicine; and
Ability to obtain a TX Medical License.
