The role of the attendance clerk is to maintain accurate records of student attendance through the preparation of PEIMS Reports; the attendance clerk will encourage goodutzung von students through communication with parents and/or guardians; carry out all school‑related activities related to the maintenance of accurate attendance records.
Qualifications- High school Student or GED
- Typing ability to meet or exceed 35 wpm
- Previous clerical experience
- Data processing experience
- Prepare accurate PEIMS Reports promptly
- Maintain accurate pupil attendance records
- Maintain a good communication system with parents, students, faculty and administrative staff
- Check and verify student absences
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Principal
- Ability to work in variable environmental conditions related to temperature, humidity and other atmospheric conditions.
- Physical ability to lift 10 lbs or more, carry up to 10 lbs, and perform tasks such as talking, bending, kneeling, pulling, reaching, grasping, pushing, stooping, walking, standing, sitting, climbing, occasional running and moving with agility.
- Ability to stay current with computer software processes and applications.
- Ability to adapt to frequent changes of tasks and occasionally perform simultaneous tasks.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to work under time pressure.
- Ability to work in a sometimes noisy or distracting environment.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
- Ability to understand and maintain confidentiality.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing in English.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of computer applications.
- Skill in using a typewriter, facsimile, telephone, computer and adding machine.
- Ability to follow directives from the Principal, Associate Principal and Assistant Principal.
Performance of this job will be appraised in accordance with Board Policy DNA. This job description/appraisal form is the instrument to be used for appraisal of this position. Appraisal is a continuous process designed to improve the quality of performance and may affect the recommendation for employment. A performance scale from 5 to 1 will be utilized.
5 = Clearly Outstanding; 4 = Exceeds Expectations; 3 = Meets Expectations; 2 = Below Expectations; 1 = Unsatisfactory; 0 = Not Applicable.
