Software Engineer II - HashiCorp Terraform

This position involves contributing to Hashi Corp’s offerings, now part of IBM, which empower organizations to automate and secure multi‑cloud and hybrid environments. You will join a team managing the lifecycle of infrastructure and security, enhancing IBM’s cloud solutions to ensure enterprises achieve efficiency, security, and scalability in their cloud journey.

Terraform ILM builds and maintains the Explorer feature of HCP Terraform (and Terraform Enterprise), as well as other features like Health Assessments. We find ourselves at the intersection of multiple initiatives, including system integrations, policy enforcement, cross‑product visibility, and AI enhancement. Our core mission is to enable broader and deeper visibility and control for our customers and their infrastructure. We focus on accessibility and customer.

Terraform has redefined how infrastructure is provisioned and managed, but infrastructure management doesn’t stop raform is seeking to expand beyond traditional provisioning workflows into Day 2 Operations, enabling customers to manage the full lifecycle of infrastructure resources.

This role will be part of a full‑stack team working on HCP Terraform. In this role, you will enable new workflows, build innovative infrastructure management experiences, and shape how HCP Terraform evolves into the way to track and maintain sprawling infrastructure.

• Develop and maintain application code across the full stack of HCP Terraform in Ruby on Rails, Golang, and Ember
• Own the delivery of well‑defined solutions
• Contribute to architectural decision‑making through the RFC process
• Investigate problems, performance bottlenecks, and customer escalations
• Enable your teammates through code reviews and pairing
• Participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation that supports this feature in production

Bachelor’s Degree

• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience as a software engineer, working on any of the following:
  Ruby on Rails, Golang, Ember.js
• Debugging and problem‑solving skills
• Strong written communication skills
• A growth mindset and desire to learn more about Terraform

• Experience with Terraform and/or Ansible
• Experience with instrumentation tools like Prometheus and Datadog
