We seek a dedicated and compassionate School Nurse to support the health, safety, and well-being of our students and school community.
The School Nurse provides professional nursing services in compliance with state and federal regulations, ensuring a safe and healthy educational environment. This role involves health assessments, medication administration, emergency care, health education, record keeping, and collaboration with families, staff, and community providers. In addition to all School Nurse duties, a Lead School Nurse provides clinical leadership across the school’s health services program.
This role will include supervising nursing staff, developing health policies and procedures, coordinating health initiatives, and acting as a health services liaison with administrators and external partners.
- Provide daily nursing support including first aid, health assessments, chronic condition management (e.g., asthma, diabetes), and medication administration.
- Maintain and update student health records and compliance with immunization requirements.
- Collaborate with educators, administrators, families, and healthcare providers.
- Implement school-wide health programs and screenings.
- Facilitate health education for students and staff.
- Respond to health emergencies and coordinate follow-up care.
- Oversee implementation and evaluation of school health programs.
- Provide clinical guidance to other nursing staff and health aides.
- Lead health-related training for staff and ensure compliance with standards.
- Coordinate health protocols across multiple grade levels or satellite programs.
- Serve as primary contact for health data, reporting, and policy development.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts.
- Certification as a School Nurse or eligible for School Nurse Certification through the Massachusetts Department of Education.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Experience in pediatric, community, or school nursing preferred.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
