The Recovery Specialist provides support and guidance to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. This position is responsible for ensuring a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment while assisting clients in maintaining their treatment goals. The Recovery Specialist plays a vital role in promoting recovery, accountability, and positive behavioral change within the program milieu.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and maintain the safety, structure, and security of the program environment.
- Supervise and observe client activities, ensuring compliance with program rules and routines.
- Conduct and document 30-minute well-being checks on clients as required.
- Perform telephone admission screenings and assist with the intake and discharge processes.
- Search and inventory client belongings upon admission, discharge, or as directed by a supervisor.
- Accurately complete all required checklists, shift reports, and documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
- Support clients in adhering to treatment plans and promote a positive, recovery-focused atmosphere.
- Communicate effectively with clinical staff to ensure continuity of care and address client concerns.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral issues following established protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support program operations.
- Education:
High school diploma or GED required. - Experience:
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries.
- Ability to remain calm and responsive in high-stress or crisis situations.
- Organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and communication tasks.
- Familiarity with substance use treatment programs, recovery principles, and trauma-informed care.
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).
