Overview
The Tennis Head Coach is responsible for coaching student-athletes in game strategies and techniques to prepare them for athletic competition. The coach motivates student-athletes to develop an appreciation for the sport and works closely with them to develop good character both on and off the court. The coach also assists teachers, counselors, and other school personnel with student-athlete attendance, academics, and behavior during and outside of the tennis season.

Season: 8 weeks, 9 contests, Monday–Friday
- Assess players skills and assign team positions
- Develop and organize a regular practice schedule for individual and team development
- Coach and instruct players individually or in groups on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques
- Observe players during practices and competitions to identify areas for improvement
- Determine game strategies based on team capabilities
- Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior and provide proper supervision at all times
- Monitor academic performance to ensure eligibility requirements are met
- Follow established procedures for athlete injuries
- Encourage multi-sport participation among players
- Comply with IHSAA/IIAAA/LMSAC regulations
- Model sportsmanlike behavior and maintain appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators
- Oversee proper care, maintenance, and requisitioning of equipment, supplies, and uniforms
- Maintain eligibility forms, emergency data cards, insurance records, equipment inventory, and other related records
- Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach, principal, athletic director, or other administrators
- Participate as a member of the coach s association
- Attend organizational meetings for the team and coaches
- Attend annual athletic department meetings and seasonal player/parent meetings
- Participate in staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to enhance coaching performance
- Maintain required coaching certifications via NFHS/IHSAA
