Maintenance Worker – Parks Division
Assist Parks Division workers to help ensure safe, clean, well-maintained facilities, hardscapes and sports fields at assigned locations. Most assignments will require regular weekend hours of a Thursday through Monday, or Friday through Tuesday work schedule. Some positions will work a traditional Monday through Friday schedule.
Salary RangeMaintenance Worker Entry and Level I – $18.00 – $21.27
Maintenance Worker Level II – $19.25 – $23.40
These ranges are based on qualifications and experience.
This opportunity will remain open until filled.
This position is a ten (10) month max, part year, 40 hour per week position with Medical coverage benefit option only.
Essential Functions Entry- Assist with consistent quality field and facility maintenance by completing tasks including field lining, field dragging, cleaning restrooms and public areas, repairing equipment and facilities.
- May learn to operate equipment including tractor, utility vehicle, pick‑up truck, lining machine, drag, etc.
- Assist in completion of winter work schedule activities and contribute to other assigned work by performing maintenance tasks as directed.
- Make effective use of time following scheduled work assigned by supervisor.
- Work effectively as part of the division and city team, responding to change and special needs with flexibility and a positive attitude, and resolve conflicts independently.
- Maintain constructive relationships with the public and city staff through effective interpersonal skills.

- General Operation
- Open, clean and stock restrooms.
- Prepare shelters for reservations and special events.
- Empty trash receptacles and manage debris.
- Daily inspect sites for trash, vandalism and graffiti; take corrective actions.
- Field Maintenance
- Drag, water and line softball and baseball fields.
- Clean and stock restroom facilities and spectator areas.
- Apply pesticide, weed, edge and trim fields and common areas.
- Minor maintenance of tools and equipment.
- Turf and Irrigation Maintenance
- Trim and mow sports fields and common areas weekly.
- Apply weekly field painting, irrigation system maintenance and pesticide applications.
- Work effectively as part of the division and city team, responding to change and special needs with flexibility and a positive attitude, and resolve conflicts independently.
- Maintain constructive relationships with the public and city staff through effective interpersonal skills.
- Assist with Department projects as needed including special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School graduate or GED required.
- Experience in service, maintenance, parks maintenance or related field preferred.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- 1 year experience in parks maintenance or closely related field with emphasis on duties most closely related to essential job functions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Experience operating various types of equipment preferred.
- 2 years experience in parks maintenance or closely related field with emphasis on duties most closely related to essential job functions.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Follow oral and written instructions.
- Communicate effectively in written form and orally with a variety of people, including use of cellular phone and two‑way radio system.
