CDL Driver

Founded in 1932, K-I Lumber and Building Materials operates locations in Kentucky and Indiana, including wall panel and truss manufacturing facilities, providing specialty building materials to customers.

• Deliver materials to job site, inspect and maintain truck, and assist in loading and storing of materials.
• Drive a truck with a capacity of more than three tons, may be a less experienced CDL or tractor trailer driver as needed.
• Operate safely and participate in a positive work environment.
• Maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required.
• Prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving.
• Organize and secure load; assist forklift operators when loading.
• Check orders for accuracy; deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction.
• Complete daily equipment pre-inspection; record merchandise returned by truck and assist in unloading material returned for credit.
• Follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation; provide excellent customer service.
• Relay messages from customers while on job; assist supervisor and other employees as assigned.
• Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in yard and warehouse; comply with all company policies and guidelines.
• Operate truck-mounted forklift safely and efficiently; maintain cleanliness of truck.
• Participate in and complete assigned trainings; perform other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience:
  
  CDL experience preferred; basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers required; 1-3 years CDL experience for interstate commerce.
• Skills and Abilities:
  
  basic math, reading orders, writing instructions and completing forms; effective communication with customers, employees and supervisors; ability to deal constructively with conflict; maintain current operator's license and meet driver qualification requirements; knowledge and use of safe lifting techniques; proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphone, GPS and other business applications).
