All mechanics receive a $6.50/hour stipend per JCPS School Board (approved for the 2024-25 school year; reapproval may occur).

Working Calendar: 260 Days/8 Hours.

Responds to mechanical needs for vehicular preventive maintenance and breakdown repair. Participates in ongoing educational development to upgrade technical skills. Performs extensive repairs on vehicle mechanical devices/parts.

1B, Grade 10

Estimated starting hourly range: $28.46 - $34.69 (including $6.50 stipend for 2024-25 SY). Subject to experience verification.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Working knowledge of gas and diesel buses, trucks, and cars.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Master Automotive Service Excellence certification (permanent).
• Effective communication skills.

Estimated starting hourly range: $26.83 - $32.61 (including stipend).

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Knowledge of gas and diesel vehicles.
• Two years as a mechanic's helper.
• Valid CDL.
• Effective communication skills.

Estimated starting hourly range: $26.04 - $31.62 (including stipend).

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Knowledge of gas and diesel vehicles.
• Technical vocational training or equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain CDL when eligible (at 21).
• Effective communication skills.
