Job Description for Senior HVAC TechnicianWe are seeking an experienced Mechanical HVAC Senior Technician located in Louisville, KY. Key responsibilities include overseeing daily field operations for aftermarket projects, T&M Labor, and Preventative Maintenance Agreements, as well as assisting in team management. The ideal candidate will uphold the company’s core values, prioritize teamwork, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. They will nurture positive customer relationships, maintain HVAC equipment expertise, ensure high-quality workmanship and documentation, coordinate post-sale tasks, uphold safety standards, and resolve issues effectively.
The role requires excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
Description of Principal Duties:
- Assist the Project Manager with installation training as needed.
- Provide guidance, leadership, training, and accountability for direct reports.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose building mechanical systems (RTUs, split systems, VRFs, boilers, chillers, AHUs, VAVs).
- Perform repairs and installations based on diagnosed issues.
- Plan, layout, and ensure overall efficiency during project repairs and installations.
- Work independently when necessary.
- Interpret blueprints and wiring diagrams accurately.
- Aid in Owner Training sessions.
- Support the Service Manager in resolving warranty and non-warranty issues.
- Manage onsite communication with customers and facility directors.
- Uphold a safe work environment.
- Assist in the training of apprentices.
- Occasionally assist with startup or issue resolution for other mechanical and control product lines.
- Uphold company culture and core values; understand the company’s mission and vision.
- Provide accurate measurables to management; consult with the Service Manager or manufacturer support when needed.
- Initiate and implement improved operating procedures, particularly for service strategies.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to solve issues effectively and efficiently.
- Coordinate with aftermarket project management and service controllers to keep jobs on track.
- Coordinate with manufacturers and stakeholders to resolve issues involving aftermarket project management, sales, application engineering, and operations controlling teams.
- Attend L10 meetings and quarterly reviews.
Education, Experience and Qualifications:
- HVAC Journeyman license and EPA Certification, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant trade experience.
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- OSHA 10-hour safety certification.
Knowledge/Skill Set:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to work under pressure and maintain organization.
- Ability to work well with technicians and tradespeople.
- Valid driver's license; travel to job sites across Kentucky and Southern Indiana, with occasional overnight stays.
- On-call duty and overtime as required.
- Adherence to grooming standards and proper maintenance of company tools, vehicles, and assets.
- Willingness to participate in manufacturers’ training programs across the US, with travel primarily within Kentucky.
