Responsibilities- Prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
- Offer product samples to help customers discover new items.
- Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
- Provide customers with fresh products they have ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
- Recommend deli or bakery items to ensure customers get what they want and need.
- Use all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
- Prepare foods according to temperature logs and follow cooking instructions.
- Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipe, using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Adequately prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients.
- Check product quality to ensure freshness and review "sell by" dates to take appropriate action.
- Properly use kitchen equipment, stove, computerized scale, fryer, steamer, robot coupe, etc.
- Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
- Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
- Understand the store layout and locate products when requested by customers.
- Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
- Maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions or make suggestions.
- Monitor inventory/stocking conditions and note discrepancies.
- Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain temperature logs.
- Promote trust and respect among associates.
- Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering product questions.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
- Practice preventive maintenance and report equipment needing repair.
- Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
- Work cooperatively in a high‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
- Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
- Act honestly and with integrity regarding customer and business information.
- Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve customer and business issues.
- Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
- Perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
