Grocery Clerk responsibilities include creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service and maintaining a safe, clean environment. Assist the department manager in reaching sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. • Help customers discover items and answer questions about products.
• Inform customers of specials and recommend grocery items to meet their needs.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review "sell by" dates and take appropriate action.
• Provide customers with fresh and non-perishable grocery products they have ordered; stock and label department merchandise.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads; adhere to food safety regulations.
• Maintain proper temperatures in cases and coolers and keep temperature logs.
• Gain knowledge of products sold within the department and respond to questions with product suggestions.
• Create an inviting environment by answering questions about products and assisting customers and associates store-wide.
• Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management; participate in preventive maintenance and report any needed repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents; work cooperatively in a high-paced environment; manage conflict calmly and professionally.
• Maintain honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information; follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults; perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Minimum Position Qualifications:
  
  Customer service skills; effective communication skills; knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).
