This is a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow position in Dr. Josiah Hardesty’s laboratory at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Current projects explore mechanisms of compromised liver regeneration in liver disease using animal models and in vitro systems. The candidate is expected to have demonstrated productivity and effective interpersonal skills. Entry-level or mid/senior level postdoctoral candidates can apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain mouse colony and perform animal studies in a team environment.
- Perform standard assays such as qPCR, western blot analysis, or histological analysis.
- Organize and perform research studies independently with limited supervision.
- Receive, store, and organize lab supplies and reagents.
- Follow lab safety guidelines and maintain an organized workspace.
- Maintain lab training certifications.
- Excellent research documentation via notebook and digital files (MS Excel & Graph Pad Prism).
- Will be expected to assist with writing manuscripts and review scientific writing.
- Supervise other trainees in the lab, assist with projects, and assist with lab management.
Ph.D. in a field related to any biological science or health science (e.g., biology, pharmacology, toxicology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, neuroscience, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with animal work (e.g., mice or rodents).
- Experience or willingness to learn coding and/or bioinformatic analysis and pipeline development.
- Experience analyzing large datasets (e.g., RNASeq, proteomic, metabolomic).
- Perform animal studies in a team environment.
- Perform standard assays such as qPCR, western blot analysis, or histological analysis.
- Organize and perform research studies independently with limited supervision.
- Collate data and critically plan and execute experiments with guidance but minimal supervision.
- Ability to think and plan independently.
- Lab-based environment.
- Regular exposure to organic solvents.
- Light lifting or carrying 25 lbs. or less.
Data analysis, scientific writing, organization, bench lab skills, record keeping, communication, project management.
