Responsibilities
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under direction and supervision, is an individual accountable for the care of patients. The LPN focuses on safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care, customer satisfaction and quality outcomes. The LPN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit, promoting his/her own development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education supported by a Practice Governance framework.
The LPN, under direction, may delegate nursing tasks to non-licensed staff members. In conjunction with leadership, the LPN has the responsibility to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the plan of care. The LPN applies his/her educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care and mentoring/precepting of non-licensed staff and or students.
