Job Summary and Qualifications

Under direction, coordinates and supervises regional residential operations for VOA Home programs in Kentucky.

  • Master’s Degree in human services or a related field with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in residential settings; a person with a related Bachelor’s degree and 10 or more years of related work experience; a person with 13 years of experience in the field with no degree.
  • This position also requires an additional two years’ experience managing projects and/or teams. Knowledge of problems associated with families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness required. Experience supporting families experiencing homelessness, including strengths-based engagement and safety-focused intervention. Knowledge of the emotional, developmental, and environmental impacts of homelessness on adults and children.
  • The position requires a demonstrated ability to direct multiple, complex and diverse programs. It requires proven ability in program development and implementation, policy development, program integration, management team building and budgetary planning and oversight.
  • Demonstrate understanding of trauma-informed care principles and their application in residential settings. Ability to guide staff in trauma-responsive practices, crisis stabilization, and de-escalation techniques.
  • The position requires strong business acumen and a reasonable combination of the following skills and abilities: fund-raising, grant-writing, budget development and management, property management, advocacy, resource development, public relations, and training.
  • Must have a commitment to the principles of the project, excellent verbal and written communication skills, high degree of organization, and creative problem solving skills. Must have the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy, judgment, discretion and honesty. Must learn and apply agency, personnel and program policies and procedures, and stipulations of the grant contract.
  • Must have personal automobile, valid driver’s license, liability insurance, and be willing and able to travel between locations.
