At Bside

U for Life we have been saving lives since 1988. We provide support and hope through the gospel of Jesus Christ to those affected by unplanned pregnancies, walking beside them for life. We are committed to presenting the gospel of our Lord in word and deed by educating women facing crisis pregnancies, responding to their needs, and protecting the lives of unborn children.

We provide an open heart, and an open ear to listen and respond to the needs of our clients.

Through our pregnancy center, mobile unit, and life skills programs we offer free and confidential medical services and a haven for mothers, fathers, and their children to receive counseling, training, support, mentoring and love from compassionate people committed to providing support for a lifetime. All our services are free and confidential and are offered without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, disability, or other arbitrary circumstances.

We believe confidence grows with the right education and pregnancy information. Our non-judgmental team of peer advocates and nurses provide compassionate care throughout the pregnancy journey, regardless of the path it may take, and our team of life skills teachers and mentors continue support, care, and training that extends beyond the pregnancy. We strive to create a community that values life.

THE OPPORTUNITY
BSideU for Life is seeking its next Executive Director with a passion for our mission combined with a strong business acumen, fundraising, and team leadership skills to lead the organization. The next leader must have a strong and abiding faith in Jesus Christ consistent with our Statement of Faith, with the ability to confidently express those beliefs within the community. The Executive Director will lead a team of dedicated and compassionate staff and volunteers.

With support from the board, the next Executive Director will continue to execute an existing strategic plan with an eye toward moving the organization forward in a constantly changing environment.

This leader will be expected to increase engagement with a volunteer board of directors, donors, church partners and other stakeholders. With a current annual budget of $1.8 million, BSideU for Life is looking for a leader who can increase funding, particularly through increased individual donors. The ED will also be charged with evaluating the efficiency of the organization’s wide-ranging programs and the creation of innovative programs to ensure we are reaching potential clients and truly standing beside them for a lifetime, not just the pregnancy journey.

• Provide visionary leadership and ensure meaningful execution of the current strategic plan while staying aware of potential changes to be implemented in the next strategic planning cycle and approach the development of key strategies as dynamic and ongoing.
• Direct the organization’s overall operations and administrative activities, ensuring the team, programs, and mission are growing effectively.
• Provide consistent and regular communication to the Board of Directors to facilitate its recruitment, training, and engagement of board member peers for the well-being and stewardship of Bside
  
  U for Life.
• Lead a team of six direct reports and a staff of 27.

Team Development

• Through intentional leadership strategies, empower and motivate the team to develop a supportive organizational culture given the spiritual, emotional and legal intensities the center experiences.
• Maintain an emotionally healthy climate for staff and volunteers that continuously strives to work toward the center’s mission.
• Adjust management and leadership style to deal with difficult situations and respond in a positive manner to staff, volunteers and clients.
• Actively lead and support a development team of three, overseeing a comprehensive fund development effort, including donor development and engagement, and grant research and pursuit.
