LSV IAM Machinist

Overview

BAE Systems is looking for a CNC Machinist I to join our team in Louisville, KY. This position is on a weekday 1st shift / 4/10 schedule. There is a sign-on bonus of $5,000 available for this position, and the rate is $33.75 per hour. The role supports the Combat Mission Systems business and involves setting up and operating a wide range of machine tools to manufacture precision parts while maintaining safety and quality standards.

• Must be capable of setting up and operating a wide range of machine tools to include but not limited to:
  Planer Mill, Radial Drill, Engine Lathe, VTL, HBM, Jig Bore, Vertical and Horizontal Hone, , OD Grinder, Surface Grinder, Centerless Grinder, conventional Mill/Lathe, and CNC/NC Mill/Lathe.
• Frequently, operations are repair type in nature, which requires the restoration of overhaul parts.
• Works under the supervision of a Team Leader who gives minimal instructions. Team Leader is available for consultation.
• Employee is responsible for maintaining/improving housekeeping standards in the work area and adhering to established safety rules and practices.
• Must understand shop floor computerized time and attendance system and independently execute assigned responsibilities (e.g., clocking in/out, closing shop orders when work is complete).

• Must be a graduate or current student of the Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing (ATDM) program.
• Must have the knowledge and skill to set, use, and read precision layout and measuring instruments.
• Must have knowledge of, and the ability to apply, algebraic, geometric, and trigonometric functions to blueprint dimensions in the machining of complex parts.
• Must have the ability to read and interpret multi-paged complex machining blueprints.
• Must possess the knowledge, skill, and ability to setup and operate major machine tools.
• Must have the ability, confidence, and self-motivation to apply talents independently and with good judgment.
