Sr. SQL Architect/SME — Louisville, KY — 8+ months

The Senior SQL Architect/SME will be responsible for defining the architecture best practices and putting in place structures to ensure compliance. The consultant will also implement appropriate change management and database release management processes, and plan for future scale and performance needs based upon historical data and projected system growth.

• Define architecture best practices and ensure compliance through structured processes.
• Implement change management and database release management processes.
• Plan for future scale and performance needs based on historical data and projected system growth.
• Provide high-level DB assistance for specific database server issues and/or performance inquiries, including server implementation and configuration.
• Design and configure HA/DR solutions.
• SQL configuration and performance monitoring (a plus).
• Database tuning and optimization.
• Database security considerations and controls.
• Document and manage projects using internal systems and procedures.
• Provide cross-organizational communication and support at all levels, with strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Support multi-tasking in project environments and maintain effective client-facing and internal communications.

• 7-10 years of experience implementing multi-terabyte SQL Server solutions, including SQL best practices and performance assessment of SQL databases (MS 2008 & 2008R2).
• Broad knowledge of SQL Server database definition, design, and configuration.
• Experience with SQL RDBMS process improvement focused on database design, hardware performance, and testing.
• SQL Server hardware selection experience, including high availability options.
• SQL Server environment upgrade/install/configuration.
• Performance assessment and maintenance plan review/installation.
• Ability to document and manage projects using internal systems and procedures.
• Ability to interface effectively with all levels of an organization.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; sales-oriented in approach.
• Good writing skills and the ability to multi-task in support of the project.
