Let Vaco advocate for you! We are currently seeking an Industrial Software Engineer to support a growing team.
This role focuses on building and supporting software-driven and electronic solutions that enhance manufacturing operations, production data flow, and plant-floor systems. The position operates in a fast-moving manufacturing environment and partners closely with operations, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure technology solutions effectively support business and production objectives while remaining flexible to change.
Key Responsibilities- Create, deploy, and maintain custom applications that support automation, production data capture, reporting, and operational control.
- Build and maintain integrations between manufacturing execution systems, enterprise platforms such as Oracle, and reporting or analytics tools including Power BI.
- Support and improve existing production systems by diagnosing issues, refactoring legacy code, and enhancing system performance.
- Evaluate production processes and recommend technical improvements to increase efficiency, traceability, and quality outcomes.
- Work cross-functionally with engineering, IT, quality, and maintenance teams to define data requirements, system design, and rollout strategies.
- Maintain high standards for system availability, stability, and security in a production-critical environment.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation related to system architecture, workflows, and code to ensure long-term supportability.
- Background working in manufacturing, industrial environments, or operational technology systems.
- Experience with manufacturing systems and industrial controls technologies such as MES platforms, PLCs, and SCADA.
- Knowledge of industrial communication standards such as OPC UA, MQTT, or similar protocols.
- Exposure to cloud-based platforms or edge-computing solutions used within factory environments.
- Familiarity with Agile or Scrum development practices is preferred.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Comfortable working in environments with shifting priorities and time-sensitive demands.
- Detail-oriented with a proactive, solution-focused approach to challenges.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Five or more years of professional software development experience.
- Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages including Python, C#, Java, or JavaScript.
- Working knowledge of relational databases such as SQL or Postgre
SQL. - Experience using version control tools like Git, Git Hub, or Git Lab.
