Position SummaryThe HR Manager is a leadership role with a primary focus on human resources and people operations while working alongside our Hospital Administrator. This individual will serve as a trusted partner to hospital leadership and staff, overseeing HR functions that support engagement, retention, compliance, and performance. Veterinary experience is welcome but not required; strong HR leadership and the ability to support teams in a fast-paced veterinary environment are essential.
Key Responsibilities – Human Resources Focus- Work alongside the Hospital Administrator to assist in HR operations, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, performance management, and off-boarding
- Serve as the primary resource for employee relations, coaching managers and resolving workplace issues with professionalism and empathy
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and hospital policies
- Develop, maintain, and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook
- Oversee benefits administration, payroll coordination and FMLA implementation
- Partner with leadership to create and execute employee engagement, retention, and wellness initiatives
- Support scheduling, staffing strategies, and workforce planning in a clinical environment
- Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture aligned with the hospital’s values
- Additional Administrative Responsibilities
- Collaborate with hospital leadership on operational planning and team support
- Monitor HR metrics and trends to inform decision-making
- Support training, development, and leadership growth initiatives
- Assist with budgeting related to staffing, benefits, and HR programs
- Work alongside existing leadership team to provide support, help execute daily management functions
- 5+ years of experience in human resources, people operations, veterinary hospital management with a strong HR emphasis is a plus
- Demonstrated experience handling employee relations, compliance, and performance management
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion and integrity
- Experience in a veterinary hospital, healthcare, or clinical environment is preferred
- SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, CVPM or similar certification
- Experience supporting multi-department or shift-based teams
