The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is the field-based medical/scientific expert for Incyte, focused on non‑promotional engagement with healthcare providers. Responsibilities include providing medical and scientific education on the appropriate use of Incyte products, responding to unsolicited medical information requests, understanding the evolving therapeutic landscape, and supporting research collaborations across the Incyte oncology portfolio. This position focuses on Myeloproliferative Neoplasms (MPNs) and Graft‑Versus Host Disease (GVHD) with a territory that includes Michigan, Indiana, and Kentucky.
EssentialFunctions (Key Responsibilities)
- Identify, establish, and maintain collaborative relationships with key investigators, institutions, groups, and consortia strategic to the safe and effective use of company products
- Provide education to the medical community on Incyte products and disease areas of focus
- Respond to unsolicited medical information requests, often in collaboration with Medical Information Services personnel
- Increase company visibility and enhance professional interaction with current and future oncology leaders
- Identify clinical research opportunities consistent with company objectives
- Represent the primary territory contact for the investigator‑sponsored trial program, facilitating the process from concept submission through publication
- Communicate key clinical and research insights from oncology leaders to shape company research and ensure safe and appropriate use of Incyte products
- Maintain a high level of clinical and scientific expertise through ongoing training and self‑education, including attendance at relevant conferences, scientific workshops, and review of key publications
- Gather and disseminate competitive intelligence in a compliant manner
- Mentor other MSL team members and participate in cross‑functional US Medical Affairs teams
- Execute administrative aspects of regional field activities
- Contribute to and provide medical leadership for US Medical Affairs and Development programs/projects
- Ensure compliance with Incyte policies, SOPs, and USMA operating guidelines
- Maintain the independence and integrity of the USMA business function when engaging with internal and external stakeholders
- Complete accurate and timely administrative reports, project plans, and required documentation requests
- Advanced degree (PhD, Pharm
D, or MD) with prior experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry – strongly preferred - Prior MSL or relevant experience – strongly preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of hematology/oncology experience – strongly preferred
- Clinical research experience – preferred
- Knowledge of treatment guidelines, FDA regulations, CMS reimbursement coverage process, and OIG guidelines
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills
- Strong problem‑solving, decision‑making, and negotiation skills
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to summarize complex scientific information and present it clearly, concisely, and accurately to diverse audiences
- Network and partner with external customers, including medical thought leaders, academic institutions, research consortia, and practice networks
- Team orientation and cross‑functional collaboration
- Demonstrable effective leadership skills and ability to handle challenges within scope of authority
- Deep therapeutic competency; stays abreast of trends and new information in the therapeutic/translational science area
- Approximately 50‑60% domestic travel required
