Certified Kentucky Peer Support Specialist (KPS)
I’m partnering with an outpatient recovery clinic in Louisville, KY to hire a mission‑driven Peer Support Specialist who can blend lived experience with community outreach to help people start—and stay—in treatment. This is a new role with room to build processes, shape outreach strategy, and be a visible advocate for harm‑reduction and evidence‑based care.
Schedule: Day shift, Monday–Friday (8‑hour day) with flexibility for outreach; occasional Saturdays
Location: Louisville, KY (on‑site + field/community work)
Start: ASAP
Why this role matters
Early treatment engagement is fragile—drop‑off in the first month is common. In this role, you’ll focus on practical, “hierarchy‑of‑needs” barriers (transport access planning, housing referrals, benefits navigation, etc.) and provide peer‑led encouragement so individuals can stick with care. You’ll be a critical bridge between the community and clinic services including medication‑assisted treatment (MAT), counseling, and psychiatric support.
What you’ll do
- Community outreach & patient engagement: Meet people where they are—street‑level outreach, community partners, and phone‑based connections—to encourage entry into care.
- Warm handoffs into treatment: Guide individuals through intake, paperwork, and first appointments; help them understand MAT options (e.g., methadone, buprenorphine/Suboxone) and what to expect.
- Peer support & education: Share recovery‑informed strategies, reduce stigma, and coach through early‑recovery challenges.
- Resource navigation: Connect participants to wraparound supports (housing resources, benefits, primary care, mental health, transportation planning, etc.).
- Collaboration & documentation: Coordinate with clinical/admin staff for continuity of care; complete timely, accurate notes that meet program and regulatory standards.
- Build the function: This is a brand‑new position—bring creativity, structure, and follow‑through to shape how outreach and peer services run.
- Important: This role involves driving your own vehicle for outreach. No patient transport is required.
