Medical Assistant / Medical Assistant Trainee – Norton Children's Medical Group (Endocrinology)

Responsibilities
  • Assist the physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner with direct patient care and clinical tasks.
  • Serve as the clinical liaison between the provider, patient, and office staff, ensuring communication of the care plan.
  • Perform administrative duties: taking patients to rooms, greeting, obtaining vital signs, scheduling appointments, answering phones, billing and coding, maintaining electronic medical records (EMR), faxing, and managing prior authorizations.
  • Assist with medical procedures, phlebotomy, and calculation & administration of medications & vaccinations.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines.
  • Support disability and Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork.
Training Program

No experience required for the Medical Assistant Trainee position. Norton Healthcare offers a full‑time, 40‑hour per week paid training program. Training consists of a combination of classroom and clinical instruction, scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Classroom sessions are held at 1001 Breckenridge Ln, Louisville, KY 40207; clinical rotations occur at multiple locations in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Upon successful completion, trainees transition into full‑time Medical Assistant roles.

Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant: Graduate of a medical–assistant program or minimum one year of experience as a medical assistant.
  • Medical Assistant Trainee: High‑school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience required.
