Salon Manager - BTC:
At JCPenney Salon, our leaders guide their teams to success by developing stylists and delivering an exceptional client experience every day. As a behind-the-chair salon manager, you may work up to 8 hours per week behind the chair with your own clientele, alongside your team. Leaders coach and motivate the team to become top salon professionals in America, while supporting the business to drive retail and service results through marketing, networking, and promoting client loyalty.

- Client Experience
- Lead by example in all interactions with clients, and support stylists to ensure an exceptional client experience.
- Create an environment that inspires associates to build client loyalty by providing coaching and feedback to ensure consistent execution.
- Motivate and engage the team to provide exceptional service through consistent communication, coaching, and recognition.
- Provide services including but not limited to cut/style, chemical services for all hair types, and perform other hair styling services as required to meet or exceed client expectations in a positive, professional manner.
- Team Development
- Proactively recruit qualified stylists to join the team through social media, targeted recruiting websites, referrals, and engaging stylists at local salons and cosmetology schools.
- Provide coaching and feedback that is frequent, balanced, meaningful and improves effectiveness.
- Create opportunities for learning that drive associate success throughout their career.
- Ensure stylists complete available training by scheduling associates for Core and Artistic Education as courses are offered internally.
- Inspire loyalty, passion, and growth in the salon by creating an environment that is inclusive, respectful, professional and fun.
- Business Performance
- Review reports to quickly identify opportunities, determine root causes, and set direction to achieve productivity, referral, rebooking, return rate, and client acquisition standards.
- Deliver salary cost objectives to achieve the profit plan.
- Merchandising
- Review guidance and adjust based on salon layout while maintaining core standards in the salon.
- Walk the salon and backbar to identify opportunities related to merchandising, replenishment, and recovery.
- Address product-related issues that have the biggest impact on the client experience.
- Manage backbar expenses to plan.
- Performance Standards / Programs
- Consistently meet established performance standards for the role, including product and service sales, client experience, productivity, and attendance.
- Follow company programs (including but not limited to) hiring practices and state safety regulations, and advise salon associates on how to address related issues.
- Cosmetology License
- A current cosmetology license is required in the state you are applying.
- Prioritizes customers
- Focuses team efforts on superior customer service and a quality salon client experience, with the goal of rebooking. Ensure the client feels at home by providing thorough consultations, prioritizing time and services, and recommending appropriate retail. Value work-life balance for associates.
- Takes accountability
- Holds the team accountable for performance and empowers individuals to do the same. Lead by example and equip the team with the tools and skills they need to be successful, then celebrate wins and encourage pride in work accomplishments.
- Produces results
- Establish goals and explain how success will be measured. Prioritize work and remain adaptable to change. Motivate the team to drive results to reach quarterly and annual goals.
In addition to a competitive wage, this position offers 50% commission on service sales behind the chair and 10% commission on retail sold with a service. Eligible for bonus under the Management Incentive Plan. If eligible, we offer a competitive benefits package including…
