Accounting Manager, Financial Reporting
We are currently seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Real Estate Financial Controller to add to our clients growing team. The Real Estate Controller is responsible for overseeing the preparation of financial statements, statistical data, and journal entries for input into the general ledger for financial reporting purposes. As the Real Estate Controller, you will also play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the real estate portfolio, leveraging your expertise in streamlining processes and enhancing financial performance.
This role will also be responsible for providing detailed account and variance analysis, in addition to reconciliations, and supporting documentation for general ledger accounts. This position offers tremendous career growth and competitive compensation/benefits/PTO.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for the real estate development properties
- Full ownership of the general ledger, month-end close, and bank reconciliations
- Construction and development accounting across multiple phases
- End-to-end ownership of AIA draw processes, including retainage and lien waivers
- Close coordination with project management and construction leadership
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements in all financial reporting
- Manage all aspects of property accounting, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and month-end/year-end close processes
- Conduct regular reviews and reconciliations of financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Collaborate with development, construction, and property management teams to ensure accurate project accounting and reporting
- Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and information are provided
- Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, real estate accounting principles, and financial reporting standards
- 7–12+ years of experience in development-side accounting
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel and Power Point
- Ability to effectively manage, mentor, and develop a team to ensure high performance and professional growth
