Overview

We have a great opportunity for an experienced commercial lender in Louisville, KY. Our client is a mid-size regional bank looking for a Senior Commercial Lender currently working with businesses and COIs in Northern KY and/or Southern IN. If you are a C&I lender producing around $15MM per year in funded debt and are comfortable with larger more complex loan requests, our client would be interested in talking with you.

In addition, their lenders have lending authority based on their credit skills.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

Develop, maintain, and manage commercial loan relationships. This will include developing loan and deposit business from commercial customers; assisting them to structure loans that fit their current needs; and work with these customers to assist them in all facets of their business growth or other challenges. This process will entail collaborating with many other areas of the bank including, but not limited to, cash or treasury management, credit administration, branch administration, and loan and deposit operations.

Also, working with struggling commercial clients in the collection, workout and possibly the liquidation or foreclosure stages.

Specific Job Functions
  • Interview and create a working dialogue with loan applicants, collect and review appropriate and necessary financial and related information, and determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the specific merits of the loan request.
  • Establish and negotiate the structural terms under which credit will be extended including costs, repayment method, collateral requirements, and other relevant information.
  • Approve loans within the Bank’s loan policy and the officer’s individual lending limits.
  • Refer creditworthy loans above individual lending limit, as well as those outside the policy, to the appropriate manager or loan committee.

    Present credits at appropriate committee level in a thorough and professional manner.
  • Develop materials for the presentation of loans as necessary.
  • Advise customers where appropriate on business and financial matters relating to loans.
  • Initiate orders of appraisals, credit reports, title work, flood determinations (if no administrative assistant assigned) and other information as needed for loan applications.
  • Quickly communicate approvals or denials to loan applicants.
  • Participate in call program to maintain and increase customer base.
  • Introduce customers to all bank products, cross-selling as appropriate.
  • Participate in community activities to increase the Bank’s visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.
  • Review all accounts in delinquent or past due status and take appropriate action to collect and bring accounts to current position. May include engaging in workout activities and/or liquidation and foreclosure.
  • Quickly identify problem loans and discuss with the appropriate manager or loan committee. Complete problem loan status reports in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Maintain loan files and review as necessary for adequate collateral and security coverage as required by Bank’s loan policy.

What our client requests
  • 5+ years of C&I lending or credit experience required
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field, or equivalent related experience
  • Strong track record of building profitable relationships with businesses in Northern KY and/or Southern IN along with a strong network of COIs
  • A history of doing the right thing for your customers and the bank
  • Solid understanding of credit along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and to prioritize multiple tasks
