Position Overview

As a Geotechnical Department Manager
, the individual will oversee both engineering and field operations within the Louisville, Ohio office. This office‑based role includes leadership of geotechnical engineers, drill crews, inspectors, and CMT technicians, while ensuring technical accuracy, efficient project delivery, and outstanding client service. The manager will guide team performance, strengthen operational processes, and support the execution of complex geotechnical scopes for transportation, municipal, industrial, and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage engineering and field personnel, including scheduling, resource allocation, and mentoring.
  • Oversee subsurface investigations, drilling programs, laboratory testing review, and geotechnical analysis.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and design recommendations.
  • Ensure high‑quality project execution, safety compliance, and QA/QC standards.
  • Support proposal development, budgeting, and departmental planning.
  • Serve as a client‑facing representative to maintain strong relationships and secure repeat business.
  • Drive operational improvements and encourage a culture of accountability and technical excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field (Master's in Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
  • 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Experience managing both office‑based engineers and field operations staff.
  • Strong technical background in geotechnical design, field investigations, and construction support.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • PE license preferred.
