This role coordinates new and existing customer programs, ensuring products launch on time, on budget, and to specification. It serves as the link between customers, Account Managers, and manufacturing sites while overseeing APQP/PPAP, equipment needs, problem solving, and cost‑improvement efforts.
Position Responsibilities:The Corporate Engineer is responsible for performing the following functions:
- Liaison between the Account Managers, the Jones Plastic sites, and Customers for existing and new projects.
- Review customer requirements and prints of new products to develop a launch plan and manufacturing plan. Include needs, such as cost and timing, for work cell, labor, packaging, equipment, fixtures, detection, error proofing, etc.
- Responsible for ensuring customer specifications (2D prints, quality manuals, engineering specifications, testing procedures, etc.) have been submitted to document control.
- Support implementation of all aspects of new product introduction including secondary equipment, work cell development, and value‑added processes.
- Manage build schedule, facilitate APQP processes, and PPAP processes on new projects ensuring job is launched on time, within budget, and meets customers’ requirements.
- Responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting KPI’s across all assigned product launch activity.
- Manage secondary equipment vendors as well as ongoing support of existing equipment as needed.
- Support sites with existing ongoing production by assisting in Problem Solving activities, root cause analysis, corrective action development, and management customer driven engineering changes.
- Assist in Cost Take Out and Cost Containment on existing projects
- Other duties as assigned or needed.
Skills and Experience:
- Must have a four‑year technical degree from an accredited college.
- Must have a strong fundamental understanding of injection molded parts and assemblies.
- Must be detail‑oriented and have excellent communication skills.
Skills and Experience:
- Background in APQP and PPAP processes
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies
- Familiarity with lean, Six Sigma, or other problem‑solving methodologies
