Civil Engineer; Structural

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Serves as a Civil Engineer with duties to design a wide variety of structural engineering features pertinent to new construction and/or modification of civil and military projects. Coordinates and directs the work of others to accomplish project assignments.

• Develops design details of structural features of military or civil works projects, such as buildings, locks and dams, or flood walls.
• Prepares plans, specifications, design documentation reports, and operation and maintenance manuals for large portions of major projects.
• Makes site visits for inspection of construction work in progress, reviews construction submittals, and evaluates proposed contract modifications.
• Coordinates and oversees work of engineering design team.
• Reviews structural designs prepared by A/E contractors.
• Performs periodic inspection of existing structures and prepares inspection reports.
• Provides guidance on structural engineering and mentors less experienced.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must have a Professional Engineer License in good standing.
• This position requires Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) up to 15%.
