Our Fortune 100 manufacturing client is seeking a highly skilled Automation Controls Engineer with a strong background in electrical engineering, automation, and industrial controls to support a fully automated Storage & Retrieval System (AS/RS). The system includes AGVs
, automated cranes, conveyors, entry/exit tables, and PLC-based control architecture. This role is focused on maximizing system uptime through advanced troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement of automation and control systems.
- Monday–Friday day shift
- Occasional weekends for critical issues, upgrades, and planned improvements
- Diagnose and resolve automation faults involving AGVs, cranes, conveyors
, and material handling equipment - Perform PLC troubleshooting and minor logic modifications (
Allen-Bradley / Siemens
) - Maintain/calibrate sensors, encoders, photo-eyes, prox switches, safety devices, I/O modules
- Troubleshoot industrial network communications (
Ether Net/IP, Profinet
) - Maintain controls documentation, backups, and firmware/change management
- Electrical troubleshooting up to 480V in compliance with safety standards
- Perform routine and corrective mechanical maintenance on cranes, lifts, motors, gearboxes, drive systems, AGVs
- Diagnose issues involving bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics, chain drives
, and AS/RS mechanical mechanisms - Support PM planning and documentation via CMMS
- Analyze performance data and recommend improvements to reduce downtime
- Participate in RCA and implement long-term corrective actions
- Partner with engineering/operations/vendors on projects and upgrades
- Assist with commissioning new equipment, automation enhancements, and system expansion

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Controls, Mechatronics, or related field
- Equivalent experience and technical certifications may be considered
- 2–4 years in industrial maintenance, automation engineering, or controls support
- Strong understanding of industrial automation, PLC logic flow, sensors, motion components
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, controls diagrams, mechanical drawings, ladder logic
- Mechanical aptitude with experience in cranes, conveyors, robotics, AGVs
, or similar systems - Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems up to 480V safely
- Ability to work at heights/elevated crane service areas
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Experience in AS/RS
, automated cranes, bridge/gantry cranes - Hands‑on exposure to Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, industrial networks
- Experience in industrial robotics, advanced material handling, high-bay storage systems
- Familiarity with LOTO, machine guarding, safety circuits, functional safety
- CMMS experience for PM and work tracking
- Additional certifications in electrical systems, automation, robotics, or controls
